The Future of Green Building
Could the glass panes of a high-rise eventually produce electricity? The possibility of creating an absolutely transparent solar panel has been on the forefront for renewable energy researchers in recent years, and now, has become a reality. A team from Michigan State University has developed a crystal-clear solar concentrator that, for the first time, will be suitable for use in residential and commercial high-rise construction. At present, the efficiency of the panels is low, but over time can be expected to make a significant impact on power consumption in newly constructed buildings.
