Diana Tarna-Bacosca, M.Eng.

Project Associate
Diana is a civil engineering graduate and has a wealth of experience in architectural, engineering, and construction environments. Her work experience has included a wide range of projects including warranty reviews, depreciation reports, insurance claims and building enclosure condition assessments. She has worked on both residential and commercial buildings, and on low-rise to high-rise as well as townhomes and provides clients with high-level reports based on site and record assessments. Her diligence provides Strata Engineering’s clients with the information they need to make informed decisions for their properties.

Yang Fei, B.Sc, CRP

Principal, Operations Manager
As the operations manager, Yang ensures that Strata Engineering delivers quality services, guaranteeing client satisfaction. Yang brings extensive project management and leadership experience, cultivating new services and diverse teams. He has overseen the delivery of large projects involving interdisciplinary teams and has extensive experience working with lawyers, insurers, developers, and scientists. Yang studied at the University of British Columbia and has served on the Board of the Real Estate Institute of Vancouver. He also sits on two strata councils, serving more than 500 unit owners.

Tyson Bolderston, Dipl T.

Project Technologist
Tyson has a post-secondary education in architectural building technology from BCIT. He specializes in building envelope design and analysis, AutoCad drafting and Revit/BIM modelling and has extensive knowledge of construction contracts, drawings and specifications. Tyson conducts site visits to ensure compliance with building codes and generates project progress reports for Strata Engineering’s clients.

Tyler Archibald, Dipl. T.

Project Manager
Tyler brings over ten years of experience in project management, estimating and field review. He prides himself on attention to detail and ensuring only the highest quality work is provided. Tyler is a BCIT graduate in Architectural and Building Engineering Technology with an emphasis on building science.

Tad Liu, B.Comm.

Senior Accountant
Tad has years of project accounting experience and a B.Comm degree from McMaster University. His role at Strata Engineering is to oversee the company’s financial activities and generate reports for the management and shareholders.

Quincy Liu, M.Eng, B.A.Sc.

Junior Engineer
Quincy is a junior engineer specializing in project and construction management and building science consulting. Quincy conducts condition assessments for residential and commercial buildings, performs quantity take-offs and uses 30-year financial models to estimate annual contingency fund contributions. Quincy holds a Masters of Engineering in Civil Engineeing, Project and Construction Management from UBC.

Nazar Pola B.Sc., M.A

Engineering Technologist
Nazar has more than 15 years’ experience in the architectural and building science industries designing and managing residential, commercial, and institutional projects in Canada, the US, and the Middle East. His expertise extends to architectural design, building condition assessments, energy auditing and evaluation, building inspections, and reserve fund studies. Nazar is a member of the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC. Nazar is a certified energy adviser and green building consultant.

Mike Africh

Director of Client Relations
Mike has over 10 years’ experience in customer relations and client care and leads our business development team. Mike has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University, and holds two technical diplomas from Humber College. Mike provides exceptional service to Strata Engineering’s existing client-base and diligently strives to attract new clients.

Mariazel Rios-Motte, B.Eng. M.Eng. EIT

Project Coordinator
Maria is a Civil Engineer with a specialization in Construction Project Management in the Canadian construction industry. Maria’s passion for construction and buildings combined with her project management skills, ensures that Strata Engineering’s projects are organized and executed on time and on budget to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations. Maria holds a M.Eng. in construction project management from UBC and a B.Eng. in Civil Eng. From UPAEP University in Mexico.

Lina Lauceviciene, Dipl. T

Project Technologist
Lina is a graduate of the Architectural and Building Technology Diploma at BCIT. She specializes in AutoCad drafting, Revit/BIM modelling and energy analysis. Lina conducts site visits to ensure compliance with building codes and generates project progress reports for Strata Engineering’s clients.  Lina is fluent in English, Russian and Lithuanian.

Kira Hecht, BA, PMP

Senior Project Manager
Kira directs the project management team, providing guidance and setting the standard for exceptional service and results. Her client portfolio includes Strata Engineering’s largest capital projects. Kira holds a Certificate in Project Management from the UBC Sauder School of Business and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

John Cheng, B.Eng., M.Eng.

Junior Engineer
John has worked in a wide range projects in South and North America and has been involved in residential and commercial design reviews, building envelope condition assessments, field review on building envelope projects, thermal and hygrothermal analysis of building envelope systems. John has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, and a Master of Engineering in Building Science from British Columbia Institute of Technology. During his Master’s studies, he focused on research around indoor environmental comfort and whole building energy simulation.

Joanne Newlove, BA

Project Administrator
Joanne is a senior administrative professional with over 15 years’ experience and has worked extensively in the engineering administration field. Joanne handles all of Strata Engineering’s proposals, providing quotes for new work, uses her expertise in engineering marketing for business development, and manages the company’s comprehensive database. She holds a Double Major in English and Psychology from the University of British Columbia.

Iryna Veverytsa, Intern Architect, AIBC MRAIC

Senior Designer
Irene has over 14 years’ professional experience in the field of architecture specializing in industrial, commercial, institutional and residential construction design. Her work includes building code analysis, zoning and development by-laws, design, planning and detailing. Iryna holds a Masters of Architecture from Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Herman Kwok, M.Eng., B.A.Sc.

Project Associate
Herman has extensive experience inspecting residential and commercial buildings, having completed and reviewed hundreds of depreciation reports, reserve fund studies, building condition assessments, and warranty reviews for a wide range of property types. He is a member of the British Columbia Building Envelope Council, has presented at conferences, and has been published by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Fred Borjian, P.Eng., P.E., Struct.Eng., M.A.Sc.

Structural Engineer
Fred has 25 years of technical and practical experience in structural engineering. His structural knowledge extends to commercial, institutional, residential and industrial projects. Fred holds a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in Canada, United States, Europe, and Middle East. His special designation of “Struct.Eng.” enables him to design and seal part 4 buildings in British Columbia.

Eileen Marcos, B.Sc.

Office Manager
Eileen is the glue that holds our office together. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office, handles the logistics and bookings for all our depreciation reports and warranty review inspections. Eileen holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of British Columbia.

David Shi, B.A.Sc., P.Eng.

Project Engineer
David’s extraordinary attention to detail and technical writing experience, combined with his background in the building science discipline and steel structural design, make him a valuable asset for any project he is involved in. His experience also includes field work, baseline property and building envelope condition assessments, leak investigations, preparation of specifications and building envelope remediation projects.

Alexander Evseev, P.Eng, M.Sc

Principal, Chief Engineer
Alex specializes in building envelope enclosure and structural consulting with over 25 years’ experience in the field of building science. Alex has a wide range of experience in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and geotechnical engineering including building envelope design, structural design (residential and commercial), construction quality assurance, feasibility studies, cost estimates, failure analysis, and environmental studies.

Mikhail Moore, B.Sc.

Principal, Senior Project Manager

As a Senior Project Manager, Mikhail ensures that Strata Engineering’s projects are completed on time and on budget and that our clients are provided with the best professional service. Mikhail has extensive project management experience, having overseen major projects for large engineering companies and the Canadian Department of National Defence and has an impressive track record of working with developers, contractors, strata corporations and property managers. Mikhail studied at the University of Western Ontario, University of British Columbia, and Trinity Western University and has a background in theoretical and applied science, business development, and project management. He lives in Tsawwassen with his wife and four children.

Matthew Ouillette, B.ASc., Civil Engineer

Project Manager
Matthew performs project management and building inspections to ensure compliance to building codes and safety standards. Matthew graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in civil engineering. He has worked in the industrial construction sector as a project manager and in the public sector in northern Canada.

Reuben Makohoniuk, B.Sc., B.Eng.

Project Manager
Reuben gained valuable experience working in the environmental engineering field during the course of his undergraduate education and holds a Bachelor’s of Science and an Environmental Engineering Degree. His specialties include project management, remote site management and logistics, asbestos abatement, air monitoring, environmental assessments, civil engineering, and contract coordination. Reuben represented the Government of Canada at the Colomac Mine Site during the Hydrocarbon Recovery Program of 2008 and has worked with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC).
